The feelings stops the fools behind
And back in the ground we look at our hands And wonder aloud could anyone choose to die (in the end everybody wins, in the end everybody wins)

middle aged job seeker
My tummy hurts from laughing. I can't tell you how your posts made my day. I'm returning to the "JOB" market after a decade of pursuing fine art, a bout with lymphoma, and a divorce. Purely out of need. I have no current skills, including with computers, so retail is my only real possibility for the time being. I keep taking these online tests and have yet to receive a call.
It just didn't make sense to me. I'm older, but I'm no slouch. And THIS IS RETAIL, not NASA, not even NUT SHELLER on the assembly line--which requires some dexterity and stamina. I began to wonder if it had something to do with those darn tests I'd been taking and decided to google. What a relief to know I wasn't the only one. At least now I know I've been selecting all the wrong answers. I never lie. I selected "AGREE". Because frankly, I RARELY lie. To save someone's feelings, perhaps. Or when I was six. But mostly, no. I am a genuinely honest person. In effect, though, I was using the SA A N D SD scale as one of DEGREES. While "DISAGREE" makes sense, too, to me, AGREE was more accurate to me. Live and learn. Ironically, while googling the tests, I came across an IQ test. I took it. 135. Ya gotta love it. Thanks for the insight--and the belly laughs! |

Of course! To think that someone could actually score a sale whilst being honest. But in all seriousness, I think this is what is wrong with retail in the first place. There is too much scum in the sector, and people think that in the long run it is a good thing to lie about a products capabilities and specifications in order to "up-sell" and finish a deal. The truth is that eventually the consumer realizes that they have been screwed and will most often not return to that store or not purchase from that company again. In the end, they are just screwing themselves.
Salespeople seem to have no concern for the long term. If they can't sell it now, then they don't want to deal with you. However, they fail to realize that if they properly inform potential customers about their products then those people might actually recommend their products to people who do need it.

Just look at modern ads. All fluff; no details or specs.

If there are any questions you encounter on the test that are not listed here or on my blog, please let me know so I could do some analysis and make updates.

I tried using these answers but failed the assessment :(
It was for a Best Buy position. There were a few questions added (pretty simple), but all the other questions were word-for-word. What gives? This is so frustrating. |
